The top 20 players of the 1st Festi Espoirs Eto’o football championship were given the chance to travel to Barcelona (Spain) to participate in summer camps and initiate a cultural exchange. This cultural exchange was the first time the Samuel Eto’o Private Fund brought children from Cameroon to Spain. Although it turned out to be a positive and enriching experience, it became evident that in practice, the idea of summer camps did not fit into the spirit of the chosen children and their companions. Instead it helped proving that what was required was a sporting and participatory interchange rather than a recreational and cultural exchange. For this reason, instead of taking children to summer camps, various sporting tournaments have been sought for them in Spain to participate in.
