Currently, in the prisons of Cameroon there are children under 18 years who, due to their inability to pay court fees of 10 euros, find themselves imprisoned for long periods and deprived of their liberty for shoplifting or, in many cases, for stealing food.
We will try to prevent children under 18 awaiting trial in the prisons of Cameroon. And to this end, this social project not only seeks to pay court fees, but also that on obtaining the minors' release, they are integrated into the reception centre and given warmth and “family” protection, so that they can enjoy and choose another way of life, different to life “in the street”.
But meanwhile, we are collaborating with the Ministry of Justice and we have donated 200 beds (80 in Douala and 120 in Yaoundé) for children under 18 who are in these prisons, currently sleeping on the floor. A new agreement is pending for the donation of 150 more beds for another three prisons in the country, as well as a variety of projects for schooling and protection of the children.
